The issues of renormalization and unitarity, the renormalization group and asymptotic freedom, infrared divergences in quantum electrodynamics and infrared safety in quantum chromodynamics, jets, the perturbative basis of factorization at high energy and the operator product expansion are discussed. Exercises are included for each chapter, and several appendices complement the text.

About the Author
Gail L. Cramer is currently L. C. Carter Chair Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness at thre University of Arkansas, a position he has held since 1987. He attained his Bachelor's degree in 1963 from Wahsington State University, hos Master's degree from Michigan State University in 1964, and his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Oregon State University in 1967.

Clearance W. Jensen is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics, an appointment he has enjoyed since 1980.
He attended Montana State College where he was granted Bachelors and Masters degrees in Agricultural Economics and Economics in 1951 and 1952. Further graduate work at Michigan State University was completed, where he received the Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics and Economics in 1958.

Douglas D. Southgate, Jr. is a Professor of agricultural economics at Ohio State University, where he also has directed the International studies Center and the Latin American Studies Program. He was awarded a bachelor's degree in economics by the University of Oregon in 1974 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He completed his Ph.D. in agricultural economics at the University of Wisconsin, in 1980, and the same year joined the faculty at Ohio State. He was promoted to associate professor in 1986 and to full professor in 1995.

About the Author
Musa Jouaneh received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette in 1984 and then went on to the University of California at Berkeley where he received his M.Eng in 1986 and his Ph.D. in 1989. He is currently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Rhode Island. His teaching interests include Mechatronics, Robotics, Real-Time Monitoring and Control, and Engineering Mechanics. Professor Jouaneh has been the recipient of several awards including URI Outstanding Contributions to Intellectual Property Award (2004),The URI Foundation Teaching Excellence Award (2003), URI Outstanding Intellectual Property Development Recognition Award (2003), The 2002-2003 Edmund and Dorothy Marshall Faculty Excellence Award in Engineering, Advisor to Merit Award Winner in the Lincoln Arc Welding Foundation Design Competition (2001 and 2002), Albert E. Carlotti Faculty Excellence Award in Engineering (1993), Graduate Fellowship, University of California at Berkeley (1984-1985).

There must be an interesting story surrounding this book, but it's tough to say what it is."Amazing Tales from the Boston Red Sox Dugout" was part of a series first put out by Sports Publishing, which specialized in regional sports titles in 2002. In this case, authors Jim Prime and Bill Nowlin - who have done much writing about Boston's baseball team - wrote down a wide range of short stories about players and incidents about the team in its history.These books weren't designed to be rocket science. A long list of players get chapter headings, although the length of each chapter varies from a couple of paragraphs to, in the case of Ted Williams, many pages.Prime and Nowlin obviously did some homework here, particularly on the lesser lights. There are anecdotes that were fresh, and I've read a lot of books on the Red Sox over the years. There were even some jokes that featured the same punchline to set-ups that didn't match the popular version, such as the time a pitcher was hit in the head with a line drive and the headlines read "X-rays reveal nothing." I think that story was first associated with Dizzy Dean.These books are more or less review-proof, as they'll put a smile on your face if you are fan of the particular of the time.But wait, there's more to the story here.There are two copyrights on the front of the book, 2002 and 2012. The 2002 book was published by Sports Publishing Inc., which went out of business a few years ago. The rights to the SPI catalog were purchased by Skyhorse Publishing. (Full disclosure - I had a book that went this route.) Apparently, this book was re-released 10 years after it first hit the bookstores.The catch is that someone did a bad job of editing the new version of the book. After a new introduction, most of the book is written as if it were still 2002. That includes references to "long-suffering" Red Sox fans, who stopped suffering in 2004 and 2007, and glowing accounts of the careers of such players as Nomar Garciaparra, who saw his baseball ranking take a fall in the years after 2002 or so. There are some references to the later years, making it all that much more confusing.The book also could have used one more read by a copy editor. Some phrases are repeated within chapters, sometimes a few paragraphs apart.I read the e-book version of "Amazing Tales from the Boston Red Sox Dugout," which only cost 99 cents. Perhaps there were problems in the "translation," although I doubt it. It seems more likely that an updated version got rushed through without much care. Red Sox fans still will get a little enjoyment out of this book, but they also figure to be a little confused and/or annoyed along the way.

Great book. Bought it for my husband. There isn't much he doesn't know about the Red Sox, but he is finding the "inside story" interesting.

It was a gift to my son for Christmas and he loved the short stories re the Sox!
